more bones than flesh!
It was the subject of an easter guess the boat if you want to find a few photos on that thread.

Re: My new i14
I do still have my 14, gathering dust in a garage, waiting in case I am ever able to sail again for more than 20 minutes at a time. I also have:
contender
megabyte
kestrel
ToY
moth
cherub
phantom
mystery hull
moff to be collected from Devon this weeeknd
so that's 10. Max has a way to go yet! I do cover the penny 14. I would love a fast skiff like that, but it's too fast for hunts and I'd need a mortgage for another Grafham boat space....

4 larks, 2 lasers, 2 merlins, 1 bobbin, 1 albacore, 1 zoom and zodiac inflatable - I think that's all.
Does sharing them between the two of us halve the number?
Good start Max - still got a few extra years of boat collecting to go!

No Nessa shares her boats with Nik and anyone else who will sail them.

Re: My new i14
heh, Nik has her own byte, and refuses to sail with me. The kezzer had a great outing on Tuesday evening with three scouts on board who now want to sail it at our open. In general I like people to sail my boats because I think they should be enjoyed. The new moff might be an exception to this if it is wooden masted and fragile, and so is the posh contender - if I can't sail it, no one else can!!
that's not really true, it's just that when I chartered it out for the worlds last year it got scratched and I got cross....
I do have two kayaks on the roof, do they count?

Re: My new i14
I've worked very hard over the last few years to keep the number of boats down, so for a family of 4 we have
Firefly
Lightning368
Minisail
Topper
Mirror
Puffin
14 foot canoe (still for sale!)
6 foot canoe
What I'm not doing so well at is keeping the number of wooden boats down. I sold the Tonic (GRP) and replaced it with the Minisail (wood), and I keep on being tempted by projects. The latest idea is to take a perfectly good (well, broken, I expect) GRP Minisail, rip the decks off and replace them with wooden ones. Luckily, I've not got a donor boat yet...

Re: My new i14
So I have got a bit of a way to go yet, but my parents have ruled that we can't get anymore boats until I leave home (but I am just considering that as no more boats for the time being!)....although we are now having to keep a boat at home as it is becoming too expensive at Bartley, to keep three of the boats there, so one is at home, two at Bartley, and one at St Catherine's, but they are all good fun to sail....at least the moth, the fireball and the l***r are, but when we have tried out the penny, I am sure I can add it to that list, we should be going out on the maiden tomorrow! but not first without getting someone from our club (who happened to be in the i14 world championships last year) to give us a helping hand,
I do know another family with ten boats, but i think that is a relatively large amount for them. And I am sure I will be able to get a lot more forgiveness in the future for more boat purchasing soon (well at least I hope so!)

Re: My new i14
We went on the maiden earlier, about 7:30, and I can say, it was just fantastic, the most fun I have had on a boat for a while, at one point we were even double trapping! Everyone around us (as we rigged) said we would go swimming mostly, but we didn't and it was just great. I hope everyone else had good days too!

I thought I heard someone say that I sailed like Ainslie. Unfortunately they were referring to Ainsley Harriott
Re: My new i14
If this was the original Hutchinson it had a huge space frame which went up to boom level with the boom gooseneck being attatched to it. This would explain why there appears to be no support of the mast in this region as it would have all been removed when the boat was modified to hog stepped mast. Interesting boat at the time
