Family sailing
Re: Family sailing
I think you have the answer Rupert, if a Jolly boat's too big then you need another two Fireflies, one pink, one blue!

Re: Family sailing
Sailed one of them in Bristol docks when they first came out. Loved the idea, but the execution was typical 90s Topper and just felt wrong.

Re: Family sailing
Rupert,
yesterday, I was talking to a chap who lives in Crudwell, near Malmsbury, i.e. about 7 miles away from Whitefriars SC. He owns and sail a pocket cruiser called a 'Willow Bay Shilling'. Its 17 ft long, and was designed by a chap from the Lyme Regis Boat building Acadamy (?). his boat has a cabin, but they do a version that is open - a 'day boat'.
What it would be like sailing a dayboat with the whole family on board anyone can guess
But I liked the look of it, enough to idly check my bank account, whilst the missus was not looking, to make sure I could not afford one........
He writes a blog:
SAILING MARGHERITA - A willow Bay Shilling
Its amazing, I met up with this chap on an 'interweb forum', as he has acquired an old BMW motorcycle, not unlike the one I currently ride, and had lots of questions. So I offered to go round to have a look at his purchase and then spent most of the time talking about sailing.
Small world
