Add a Boat.

Post by trebor »

What boat would you add to this line-up?
Taken at my club earlier this year, the Enterprise is my boat.

Cadet, Heron, Solo or Hornet...

Streaker omitted, as too recent....

My four boats!
as they all have a Jack Holt connection.
Int 14 483 designed by Holt, MR 507 Holt's first glued ply hull, and the other tywo built by and/or sailed by him.

Hornet, Holts first fast boat and the sliding seat makes it so much fun.

The class also had such a reputation for partying that it was banned from many clubs. Dougal could tell you more.

What colour are Vagabond sails ?
I have googled Vagabond, sails all appear to be white.
Did Holt have any failures ? (Milnes, "Skipper" springs to mind, though thousands appear to have been sold and they sell well).

Pretty sure he had many failures. The one that springs to mind is the Pursuit, which was a Pacer with a domed foredeck and Merlin style mainsail. Never seen one, even.

The Skipper has sold in numbers that would make RS green with envy. Just because a boat is a bit crap, doesn't make it a failure!

Works for the orangy sail, but is a bit of a baby Sent, whereas the Hornet is a whole different beast. How about a Jacksnipe, though?

Pollard's Leader. Did he design anything else? From Proctor, the Wanderer.

What fits the Enterprise niche?

I always equated the Leader with the Ent... I learned to sail in one, along with a Kestrel, and Expresses....

Not sure anyone quite got close to the General Purpose of the GP14...

Roger,
Very garish.
An equivelant Enterprise, would have to be lightweight, fast, roomy (and slightly tippy). I do not think it can be equalled :D
