Seafire 42 Restoration

Post by Angus13007 »

Afternoon all,

Recently I have been given a Seafire, sail No.42.

The current condition can be seen following the link below:

I intend to fully restore this dinghy, as I have done with an Enterprise as per this link:

However, this is a much bigger project as it will involve replacing the deck, researching etc. It would be great if it could be as original as possible.

I kindly ask if you are able to provide any details or buildings diagrams / drawings on what this type of Seafire should look like.

Thanks in advance!

Regards
Gus

Looks a great boat to restore, good luck with it.

Angus - is the 13007 in your username by any chance your Enterprise sail number?
If so, I know the previous owners of that boat and it has even competed in cvrda events at Shearwater.

Hi, no it's nothing to do with the Enterprise. The boat nuber is 9650. The sails with that aren't the original ones.

Like buses, two come along at once. I've just been given a Seafly (no 231). The owner recently passed away and the family needed rid of it but sadly it does need a lot of work as the damp has got into a couple of places. At least all the gear comes with it including the original wooden spars as well as the ally ones. Worth saving if I can find a new home for it when all the work has been done so it takes its place in the queue.
