Still set-up as supplied by Fairey's in 1961. Had been in Edinburgh since then, first with a school, and from the late 60's the Scouts. Well cared for by them for over 30 yrs, before some of that care was undone by a later generation leaving it upside down outside. It was though, rescued by an earlier generation of scouts who'd sailed the boat, and then dry-stored for 15+ yrs until 2 weeks ago when that option ran out - they'd hoped to restore it.
Its a project, but an original varnished hull to start with. Decks will need renewed, and associated work. c/w its original Reynolds alloy/wooden mast, and alloy boom. The Mainsail reefing system is still present. Steel centreplate and winch. Rudder etc, and original sails. Very unusually, the boat has its paperwork back to 1961. Not been raided for parts - its as it was collected 5 days ago, to get it back indoors, and allow some time to find a home. There was only we think only ever <95 Jollyboats built for British Isles sailors - 300+ hulls were exported. We know the whereabouts of 20 now and hope another 15 may have survived, so these are rare boats now, this one especially as it is un-modified. There never was a road trailer, and the trolley/cover succumbed to age a while ago.
