Waldringfield Dragonfly | UK |
The clinker built Dragonfly was based on the Irish Dinghy Racing Association 14 Footer and is by the same designer, G O’Brien Kennedy. Some 40 Dragonflies were built by Nunn Bros near Felixstowe on the River Deben, for the Waldringfield Sailing Club. They are partially decked and can be left on sheltered moorings. The Dragonflies, apart from allowing metal masts are still very original in layout and fittings. They still have the 25 lbs of lead in their centreboards and have aluminium rudder blades.
The Christchurch Dragonfly is a similar class with slightly less sail area as is the Hardway Seabird.
