A hard chine design by G G Lord, described as ‘somewhat tippy’ by some and ‘a good sea boat’ by others, the wildcat had a hard chine hull, long overhangs, a slim hinged centreboard, a dagger rudder that dropped through a slot, a genoa and a box-section wooden mast and a long flat run aft which made it fast downwind.
