The Rivers class was a Royal Mersey Yacht Club one design based on the earlier Jewel Class. 10 were built and now 6 survive. The design was inspired by the local sailing fishing boats, the Morecombe Bay Prawner, recognised for their shallow draft and remarkable performance and were built by the same builders, Crossfields of Arnside.
