A small, deep gaff rigged dinghy was originally used as a ship’s gig on the River Mersey then raced by the crews. A modified version of this design was adopted for use by the West Cheshire Sailing Club. This new West Cheshire One Design Clipper class dinghy proved to be an excellent racing boat on the River Mersey. By 1957 there were 26 boats which were also being used by the local Wallasey Yacht Club and Royal Mersey Yacht club.
Now also sailed by members of the Old Gaffers Association
